Specific to Nepal

  • Online / digital submission: The online tourist visa form asks for a square 1.5 × 1.5 in digital photo; no pixel or file-size limits are published. Visa-on-arrival kiosks at Tribhuvan airport take the photo themselves.
  • Printed copies: 1 passport-size photo for a paper visa form; none for the e-passport, whose photo, fingerprints and signature are taken live at the Department of Passports or a mission
  • Nepali missions issuing other services commonly ask for 35 × 45 mm white-background photos.
  • The authority publishes no head height in millimetres; the 70–80 % ICAO framing used here is what its capture stations enforce.

How to make a Nepal visa photo at home

  1. 1

    Take the photo

Stand 0.5–1 m in front of a plain light wall, face a window, camera at eye level 1.5–2 m away. Neutral expression, mouth closed.

  2. 2

    Upload it here

The face is detected, the head is levelled and the crop is set so the head measures 28.5 mm — inside the 26.5–30.5 mm range.

  3. 3

    Fix anything flagged

Each check tells you what is wrong in millimetres — zoom, move, or retake. The background is replaced with the required colour.

  4. 4

    Download & print

Save the single photo, the file for online forms or the 4 × 6 sheet (8 photos) and print at 100% on photo paper.

Nepal visa photo — questions

Do I need to bring a printed photo?

Usually not — the photo for this document is normally captured at the counter. Use this tool when you are asked to upload or supply your own photo, for example for an online application or a visa.

What size is a Nepal visa photo?

38 × 38 mm (1.5 × 1.5 in). The head, measured from the top of the hair to the chin, must be 26.5–30.5 mm.

What is the Nepal visa photo size in pixels?

At 300 dpi a 38 × 38 mm photo is 450 × 450 px; at 600 dpi it is 900 × 900 px. This tool exports at 600 dpi. For online submission: The online tourist visa form asks for a square 1.5 × 1.5 in digital photo; no pixel or file-size limits are published. Visa-on-arrival kiosks at Tribhuvan airport take the photo themselves.

What background colour is required?

Plain white. The tool replaces your background with the required colour automatically, or you can switch that off and it will check your real background instead.

Can I wear glasses in a Nepal visa photo?

Avoid; no glare or tint if worn.

Are head coverings allowed?

Only for religious or medical reasons, with the full face visible from chin to forehead.

How do I print Nepal visa photos at home?

Download the 4 × 6 inch sheet — it holds 8 photos with cut lines — and print it at 100% / actual size on photo paper, then cut along the grey lines. The file carries 600 dpi so it prints at the true size.
